8 TIME FOR AFRICA TO BE GREAT AND ACT GREAT

I am saying that Africa has the seeds of greatness in it. Africa must shake off the negativeness, the paternalism, the accusations, the superiority of the west, the wounds of the past which the west has imprisoned Africa in. Africa must know that it is truly great. Africa has the creativity, the passion, the ‘out of the box thinking’ that the world has needed and has drawn upon to re-energize itself time and time again. Now Africa must use these things to launch itself into a new era. In this new era, Africa can reinvent itself and renew itself and become a great civilization. But it has to shake off the past and know its greatness and have faith in its greatness and act on its greatness.

The failures of today, the corruption, the violence, the coups, the begging bowls, the cunning, the trickery, the power plays, the stripping of economies, the cruelty to the brothers, the comic/sadistic Idi Amin’s, the hunger, the poverty is way, way out of line. It is not the real truth and it is not the real Africa. It is a million miles away from the actual truth. Yes, these things have received the publicity to stroke the ego’s of western viewers and western readers, but the actual truth lies elsewhere.

The real, honest, genuine truth is that Africa has always been great. Africa has proven intellectual genius, creative genius, a lot to teach in the area of community harmony, Think great. Know great. Act great. Be great,. An economic giant. A cultural inspiration. An intellectual treasure house. A spiritual root. … and the world will see Africa as it really is. You will grow into your true identity. Your true gifts, talents and character will blossom and mature into visible recognition, prosperity and honor and respect will come in as much abundance as it came to post reformation Europe.

If you look at civilizations as a tree where the tree is talent and excellence, Africa has it. It has loads of talent.

Now look at the roots. In this example I am not using past ancestors as roots. In this example the roots are SPIRITUAL ROOTS, MORAL ROOTS AND THE ROOT OF COMMUNITY HARMONY. These are the areas that Africa has fallen down on in the Community harmony root. Tribalism, racism [black and white racism] civil wars, coups, jealousy, envy party politics, money culture, materialism that divides etc.] magic [rather than values], manipulation of spirits for man’s selfishness. Africa has allowed the root of morality to rot: turning to laziness, blame shifting, excuses, lying, deceiving, jealousy, getting something for nothing, becoming donor dependent, living by theft, corruption, the worship of western consumerism, the lust for western luxury goods, the worship of not so almighty dollar, adultery, rampant immorality, etc etc etc.

Colonialism brutalized Africa. From there Africa had a choice – to get bedder [better] or to get badder.

Often Africa has become better- knowing that it must get a firm grip on its own identity and its own inheritance. Thus we have had the retaking of the land in Zimbabwe, and the retaking of businesses and mines as well. Also we have had the growing knowledge that Africa must break free from the myth that the west is better in all aspects.

Also Africa has become better in that its spirituality is going up, up, up. Africa is returning to the ancestor of all ancestors, God himself. This has been made possible because he has sent his own Son to die for man and to open the way straight to God himself. Since God is the father of all nations, we can now worship God as the father of us all. hence the emphasis in the ministry of Jesus of God being revealed as Abba, father. If we respected our ancestors, we must surely respect the God who made those ancestor at least 1000 times more.

One God, one law, one understanding of what is right and wrong.

But in other ways Africa has declined. Spiritual roots have rotted, moral roots have rotted and community harmony roots have rotted. How then can Africa hope to get better if its roots are rotting? I am sure that this decline is partly because of a loss of faith caused by the brutalization of the self image of Africa by the practices of colonialism, hence the desperate need to turn back to Father God through Jesus Christ.

Africans know that a decline in the local economy is because spirituality has rotted. God has not been respected enough. Also because of moral and community harmony violations. But the way back is directly to the Father himself through Jesus Christ, not through immediate ancestors.

If there is not a wholehearted turning to God, and obedience to His laws, Africa will always be crying, begging, hurting sickening because the rots of the continent will be rotting.

By turning back to God, God will give Africa faith- Faith in themselves, his nation, his continent. He will also give Africans a new heart and a new Spirit, the kind that will do things God’s way by His power.

Hence the rise in Africa of Faith and prosperity movements that give Africans that inner strength to forge ahead despite the obstacles and things that pull down in an international environment where the other do not believe in African greatness. Unfortunately many of these movements do not also add teaching on the roots of morality and community harmony that are so urgently need healing.

Africa has to heal the roots of community division

Africa has to return to a moral culture that promotes integrity, honesty, righteousness
